LSU Gymnastics Upsets No. 1 Oklahoma with 198.050-197.675 Win

BATON ROUGE – The No. 2 LSU Gymnastics team defeated top-ranked Oklahoma by a score of 198.050-197.675 on Friday night, handing the Sooners their first loss of the season.

The Tigers’ victory was fueled by strong performances in vault and floor exercise, with season-high scores of 49.600 and 49.700, respectively. Freshman Kailin Chio claimed her third consecutive all-around title, scoring a 39.725, while graduate student Sierra Ballard won the beam title with a 9.95.

LSU took two event titles – floor exercise and beam – with three gymnasts sharing each title. Senior Haleigh Bryant, sophomore Amari Drayton, and Chio led the team’s strong finish on the floor, scoring a share of the event title.

The Tigers’ win marked their first over a No. 1-ranked foe since 2016 and first in the regular season since 2021. LSU will look to continue its winning streak next Friday when it takes on No. 8 Kentucky at 6 p.m. CT.
