Online Retailers See Sales Slump After US China Trade Policy Shift

US President Donald Trump’s decision to scrap a duty exemption for small parcels has led to a significant drop in sales for online shopping giants Temu and Shein. According to Bloomberg Second Measure, the two companies saw their US sales decline by 16% (Shein) and up to 32% (Temu) over five days from February 5, as American consumers reduced their spending on cheap imports. The sudden change in policy may have had a chilling effect on consumer behavior, with both retailers experiencing a substantial drop in sales.
