Texas Tech Baseball Looks to Bounce Back This Season

Texas Tech baseball is set to start its season this weekend against the No. 8 ranked North Carolina Tar Heels. The Red Raiders are looking to return to the NCAA Tournament after missing out last season for the first time since 2015.

The team returns several key players, including Big 12 batting champion Damian Bravo and catcher Dylan Maxcey, who shared catching duties two years ago with Hudson White. Newcomers include Peyton Schulze, a transfer from California who posted career highs in average, homers, and RBI last season.

Texas Tech coach Tim Tadlock has built a road-heavy schedule to enhance the team’s RPI for postseason consideration. The Red Raiders will play three games against North Carolina, with the series scheduled as a doubleheader on Friday at 11 am CT and the third game on Saturday at 1 pm CT.

Tadlock believes that his team has shown versatility in its lineup and can run effectively. He also thinks that the team will be able to show some power this season.

The Red Raiders have lost several key players, including Gavin Kash, Kevin Bazzell, Cade McGee, Austin Green, Drew Woodcox, Owen Washburn, Landon Stripling, and Gage Harrelson, who all transferred or were drafted by MLB teams. However, Tadlock is confident that his team can make a comeback this season.

The series against North Carolina will be the Red Raiders’ first test of the season. With their experienced lineup and strong coaching, Texas Tech baseball is looking to bounce back from last year’s missed NCAA Tournament appearance.
