Bayern Munich held off a strong attack from Bayer Leverkusen, surviving a tough test at the BayArena. The visitors had several chances, but the excellent centre-backs Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-jae limited their opportunities.
The match was a closely contested affair, with both teams creating scoring chances. Jeremie Frimpong and Nathan Tella hit the bar in the first half, while Florian Wirtz missed the best chance of the game. Bayern’s defence held firm, with Upamecano booking a foul on Tella.
Leverkusen dominated possession, but Bayern’s counter-pressing has been superb. The visitors appeal for penalties after Wirtz goes over, but ultimately settle for corners.
The match was marked by several key moments. A quadruple substitution for Bayern in the 68th minute gave them a fresh injection of energy. Vincent Kompany is unhappy with his team’s poor attacking performance.
Despite their dominance, Leverkusen were unable to break down Bayern’s defence. The visitors now trail the league leaders by three points.
