Amazon Workers in NC Reject Union Effort

A recent vote by employees at an Amazon warehouse in North Carolina has rejected a proposal to unionize, marking the latest setback for organized labor efforts within the company. About 75% of workers, or 2,447 out of 4,300 eligible, voted against joining the independent union, Carolina Amazonians United for Solidarity and Empowerment (CAUSE). The National Labor Relations Board announced the results on Saturday. Despite this outcome, Rev. Ryan Brown, a former Amazon worker who co-founded CAUSE, acknowledged that the group had anticipated defeat due to historical trends favoring non-unionization in the South.

The rejection comes after a similar union win at a Whole Foods Market store in Pennsylvania just weeks prior, with workers successfully organizing and voting to join their local union. However, this outcome differs from recent Amazon warehouse wins in Staten Island and other locations.
