NetEase Games is in talks with Nintendo about porting its popular hero shooter Marvel Rivals to the new Nintendo Switch 2 console. The developer, Marvel Rivals producer Wicong Wu, confirmed that discussions are underway and expressed interest in improving performance on the next-generation device.
Wu stated that the original Switch’s internal hardware limitations hindered the game’s performance. However, with the impending release of the Switch 2, which promises improved specs and potentially new features like a mouse-like controller, NetEase Games is open to revisiting Marvel Rivals.
The success of the Nintendo Switch has been attributed primarily to its strong lineup of first-party titles. Despite its popularity, the console’s hardware limitations have prevented many third-party games from reaching their full potential. The upcoming Nintendo Direct event in April will provide more information about the Switch 2’s specifications and launch lineup.
Rumored titles, including Starfield, Fallout 4, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, and a Call of Duty game, are expected to be showcased on the new console. If these games can run smoothly on the Switch 2, Marvel Rivals should also be able to take advantage of its improved hardware.
