Elon Musk’s digital service, which is overseeing federal IT operations in the US, has begun firing hundreds of employees from its predecessor, the US Digital Service (USDS). According to two affected workers, termination notices have been sent out. This move follows weeks of uncertainty for USDS staff, who have worked as IT experts since the Obama era. The USDS and Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency are now one entity, but under the new name “United States DOGE Service,” the organization has been used primarily to hire Musk’s own team.
