BYU beat Kansas State 80-65 on Saturday night, snapping the Wildcats’ six-game win streak. The Cougars were led by Richie Saunders, who scored 17 points and grabbed 14 rebounds.
The game was close in the first half, with both teams struggling from the field. However, BYU’s Dallin Hall sparked a 17-4 run that gave the Cougars a 26-12 lead about four minutes into the game. The Wildcats managed to trim their deficit to 53-45 before BYU’s Saunders answered with a layup.
The Cougars maintained a double-digit lead for the final 10-plus minutes, securing the win. Dug McDaniel led Kansas State with 22 points, while Brendan Hausen added 12 points.
BYU improves to 17-8 (8-6 Big 12), while Kansas State falls to 13-12 (7-7). The Cougars will host No. 17 Kansas on Tuesday, while the Wildcats play Monday at Utah.
