Rainbow Six Siege Aims for Biggest Transformation Yet with New Operator Rauora

Ubisoft is gearing up to reveal a significant transformation in Rainbow Six Siege, with a new era of gameplay and graphical improvements set to arrive on March 13. The game’s upcoming update will be showcased at the Siege X Showcase in Atlanta, Georgia.

A new operator, Rauora from New Zealand, is also joining the fray as an attacker with a defensive twist. Her primary weapon options include the 417 marksman rifle or M249 light machine gun, while her secondary choices are the GSH-18 pistol or Reaper MK2 machine pistol. The Deployable Omnilink Mesh Launcher (DOM) gadget allows for smart bulletproof barriers that can sense ally drones and be opened by operators on both sides.

However, defenders will face some limitations when these barriers are deployed. For instance, they cannot remove reinforced barricades if Tubarão’s Zoto Canister is in effect. The barriers are also vulnerable to explosions and Jäger’s ADS gadget.

Rauora will become available in Year 10 Season 1 as part of the Operation Prep Phase battle pass, with players able to unlock her using Renown or R6 credits after two weeks. This update promises a significant shift in gameplay, but Ubisoft hasn’t revealed specifics on new game modes or mechanics beyond “deepened tactical gameplay” and “new ways to play.”
