Netanyahu emphasized his country’s cooperation with the US in countering threats, particularly from Iran, which he described as a single greatest source of instability in the region. The Israeli prime minister also announced plans to send a delegation of negotiators to Cairo to continue talks on a ceasefire and hostage exchange deal with Hamas.
The deal would involve the release of Israeli soldiers held by Hamas and an end to the war. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed optimism about proceeding to phase two, but noted that it contemplates ending Hamas’ involvement in the government.
