Zelenskyy Travels to UAE Amid Momentum for War Peace Talks

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has arrived in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as diplomatic momentum builds for potential peace talks with Russia over its ongoing war on Ukraine. The visit comes days after US President Donald Trump suggested meeting Russian President Vladimir Putin, which could further push negotiations forward.

Trump stated that Ukrainian President Zelenskyy will be involved in the talks and believes Russian President Putin is eager for a deal. However, he also noted Russia’s military prowess on the battlefield.

Zelenskyy arrived at Abu Dhabi airport after attending the Munich Security Conference in Germany, marking his first trip to the UAE since the war began. His wife, Olena Zelenska, accompanied him on this trip.

Ukraine’s top priority is freeing captured citizens and focusing on economic partnerships. The visit coincides with the International Defense Exhibition and Conference arms show, where Ukraine and Russia are showcasing their military capabilities.

Russian money has been flowing into Dubai’s real estate market, sparking US concerns about potential sanctions evasion. Meanwhile, a high-level meeting between UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov discussed strengthening ties and advancing shared interests.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will lead a delegation to Saudi Arabia for talks with Russian officials over the war, marking a significant shift in US policy under Joe Biden. The developments suggest that diplomatic efforts are intensifying to resolve the conflict.
