SpaceX successfully launched a batch of 21 new Starlink satellites early Saturday morning from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. The Falcon 9 rocket carrying the Starlink Group 12-8 lifted off at 1:14 a.m. and sent the satellites into low-Earth orbit.
The launch was followed by a successful booster landing on the droneship “A Shortfall of Gravitas” in the Atlantic Ocean, marking the first-stage rocket’s 26th flight. This marks another milestone for SpaceX, which now owns the Starlink company.
According to Dr. Jonathan McDowell, an expert who has been tracking Starlink satellites, there are currently over 7,000 Starlink satellites in orbit, with around 6,264 of them in operational status. The new batch will join this fleet and provide internet service to various parts of the Earth once deployed into their orbits.
