A Reddit user has created an impressive project by upgrading the Lumia 1020 with full-fledged iOS features, transforming it into a unique device that combines the parts of an iPhone SE 3 and a Lumia 1020. The “NokiApple LumiPhone 1020 SE” supports 5G, has a working fingerprint sensor on the back, and even receives OTA updates. Despite being a hacked project, the device functions surprisingly well.
The Nokia 1020 is no longer relevant in its original form, but this creative project brings it back to life. The device features an A15 Bionic chip from the iPhone SE, allowing modern apps to run smoothly. While Apple Pay and wireless charging don’t work on the NokiApple LumiPhone 1020 SE, its maker believes it could theoretically be used as an everyday device.
The upgrade process involved making the iPhone internals work with a custom fingerprint reader, adding a SIM card slot, and modifying the Lightning port to resemble a micro-USB port. The result is a one-of-a-kind device that showcases the creator’s ingenuity and dedication to preserving the legacy of Windows Phone.
