Apple Plans M5 Chip Devices for 2025, MacBook Pro Lineup First

Apple is expected to release Macs powered by the M5 processor starting in the fall of 2025, with the first devices likely being the updated MacBook Pro lineup. A new report from Bloomberg suggests that the company will start rolling out M4-based models as early as March, followed by updates to other products like the Mac Studio and Mac Pro.

The shift towards M5 chips marks a change in Apple’s approach compared to its previous M4 cycle, where the chip was first released in the iPad Pro before being brought to the Mac lineup. The M5 is also expected to power future revisions of the Apple Vision Pro and be integrated into other products as part of their normal release cycles.

The company is reportedly working on ultra-powerful M5 chips with interconnects, which could potentially delay their release if production difficulties arise. However, it’s unclear when these features will be available, and some speculate that they may arrive before the end of 2025.

As Apple prepares to launch its new M5-powered devices, fans are eagerly awaiting updates on the company’s plans for its Mac lineup and other products. With WWDC 2025 approaching, speculation is growing about the timing of these releases, with some hoping for early access to the new M4 Ultra or M5 Ultra chips.
