Israel is working to release the remaining phase one hostages held by Hamas in Gaza this week. The country’s security cabinet has convened to discuss the second phase of a hostage deal, which could see over three hostages released on Saturday.
In exchange for their release, Israel will allow caravans to enter Gaza within the week. The move comes as tensions remain high amidst an ongoing war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
The conflict began on October 7, with thousands of terrorists infiltrating from the Gaza border and taking some 240 hostages into Gaza. Over 1,200 Israelis and foreign nationals were murdered, including over 350 at the Re’im music festival and hundreds of Israeli civilians across Gaza border communities.
As part of a deal, Israel will receive likely four bodies of hostages killed by Hamas on Thursday. The names of the hostages will be handed over to Israel in the morning.
Meanwhile, IDF forces have destroyed underground terrorist infrastructure used by Hezbollah’s “Radwan Force” unit in southern Lebanon. The structure was discovered a few weeks ago and extended for dozens of meters, containing living quarters and combat equipment.
The situation remains fluid as both sides continue to negotiate and engage in military operations. However, with the release of remaining phase one hostages this week, there is hope that a breakthrough may be reached soon.
