DJI Unveils Osmo Mobile 7P Gimbal with Native App Tracking

DJI has released two new smartphone gimbals, the Osmo Mobile 7 and 7P, with the latter offering native app tracking on both Android and iOS. The Osmo Mobile 7P features a “Multifunctional Module” that rivals Insta360’s Flow 2 Pro.

The primary differences between the Osmo Mobile 7 and 7P are the presence of the Multifunctional Module in the latter. While the Osmo Mobile 7 has this feature, it can be purchased separately later if needed. The Osmo Mobile 7 also lacks a built-in extension rod.

The gimbals share similar designs with the Osmo Mobile 6 and have a built-in tripod for easy use. The DJI Mimo app supports automatic subject tracking in nearly any app on both Android devices and iPhones, thanks to the Multifunctional Module.

To use this feature, simply mount the module on either side of the gimbal, connect it via USB-C, and select an app from a list (including native camera apps, Zoom, Google Chat, and Blackmagic Camera). Hold up your palm or subject to initiate tracking, and start/stop recording with gestures.

Insta360 recently released a similar AI Tracker module for its Flow 2 Pro gimbal. The Osmo Mobile 7P works reliably but may experience minor lag if outside the gimbal’s range of motion.

Both gimbals come with features like 10-hour battery life, power bank functionality, and support for multiple people or pets in a scene. The DJI Mimo app also enables panoramic shooting, dynamic zoom, and intelligent functions.

The Osmo Mobile 7P ($149) is now available to order, while the Osmo Mobile 7 ($89) can be purchased separately later if needed.
