King Soopers Workers End Strike After Return-to-Work Settlement

A return-to-work settlement has ended a 12-day labor strike in Colorado involving King Soopers and UFCW Local 7. The agreement, reached between both parties, will allow the union to resume bargaining without any restrictions for at least 100 days.

Key terms of the agreement include:

* A guarantee that no worker will lose their healthcare benefits by April 2025
* An end to Kroger’s “Last, Best, and Final” offer policy, allowing negotiations to continue
* A focus on staffing proposals to protect workers and ensure industry-leading healthcare coverage

King Soopers President Joe Kelley praised the agreement, saying it restores certainty for employees and customers. UFCW Local 7 President Kim Cordova hailed the settlement as a major victory, vowing to return to the bargaining table to secure a fair union contract.

The strike was sparked by concerns over staffing and worker safety. Although it fell short of its original two-week target, it drew national attention and support from workers and allies nationwide.
