NASA and its partners will hold a pair of news conferences on February 24 to discuss the upcoming Expedition 73 mission aboard the International Space Station. The events are scheduled at the agency’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, with two sessions expected to take place.
The first session, an overview news conference, is set to begin at 2 p.m. EST and will focus on preparations for NASA’s SpaceX Crew-10 launch in March and the agency’s crew member rotation launch on Soyuz in April. The second session, a crew news conference, will start at 4 p.m. and feature individual interviews with the crew members.
The Crew-10 mission is scheduled to launch on March 12 and will carry NASA astronauts Anne McClain and Nichole Ayers, as well as JAXA astronaut Takuya Onishi and Roscosmos cosmonaut Kirill Peskov, to the space station. This marks Onishi’s second trip to the space station, while the mission will be a first for Ayers and Peskov.
The crew members have diverse backgrounds and experience. McClain is a colonel in the U.S. Army and has over 2,300 flight hours under her belt. Ayers is a major in the U.S. Air Force with more than 1,400 flight hours to her name. Onishi is a JAXA astronaut who previously flew as a flight engineer for Expeditions 48 and 49.
The launch marks an exciting time for NASA’s Commercial Crew Program, which aims to innovate space travel for humanity. The program has made significant progress in recent years, with multiple successful launches and missions under its belt.
