Finding Love in a Changing World

After 17 years of marriage, I was reminded that finding love isn’t always easy, especially when technology plays a role. My husband and I recently attended a party with some single friends who were struggling to find partners on dating apps. Their stories made me appreciate my own luck – and the imperfections that come with it.

I remember meeting my husband in real life, through work, and knew he was special from our first encounter in 2007. Our relationship felt like a “done deal,” but I’ve learned that relationships require effort, especially as we age. With new year’s resolutions, I’m focusing on listening to him more, putting down my phone, and appreciating what I have.

It’s not always easy, but being with someone who gets me has made all the difference. And yes, he still can’t stack a dishwasher perfectly – but that’s just part of our love story.
