Google Removes AI Assistant Gemini from Google App for iOS Devices

Google has removed its artificial intelligence assistant, Gemini, from the Google app for iOS devices, prompting users to download a separate Gemini app from the App Store. The move aims to allow Google to compete more directly with other consumer-facing AI chatbots like ChatGPT.

Customers who try to access Gemini through the Google app will see a message suggesting they use the Gemini app instead. However, critics argue that this shift may lead to users losing interest in the service due to having to download another app.

The Gemini iPhone app was rolled out last November and provides users with a voice assistant, image generator, and links to other Google services. Companies are competing to offer AI-powered tools for everyday tasks on their phones, aiming to convert casual users into paying subscribers.

President Trump has proposed giving $5,000 “DOGE Dividend” to U.S. taxpayers if his administration’s cost-cutting measures save $2 trillion in spending. However, experts question the feasibility of this plan, citing concerns over budget mismanagement and the need for broad-based savings across multiple areas.
