Google has removed its Gemini AI model from the Google app on iOS and made it available only through a standalone Gemini app. The company claims this change will provide a better user experience and access to additional features, including Gemini Live and integrations with other Google apps like Maps, Gmail, and YouTube.
As of last November, users had two options: use the Gemini AI model within the Google app or download the dedicated Gemini app. However, now iOS users can only choose the standalone app for full functionality.
The Gemini app is free to download from the Apple App Store but comes with a premium subscription requirement for access to advanced features like Gemini Live and Workspace app integrations, which cost $20 per month under Google’s One AI premium plan.
