Patricio Freire Joins UFC Featherweight Division

Patricio ‘Pitbull’ Promises Fire in the Featherweight Division

Brazilian MMA star Patricio Freire has joined the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight division. The former Bellator MMA great, nicknamed “Pitbull,” was announced by Dana White as a new UFC featherweight on Wednesday.

Freire’s signing was seen as a surprise move, with some speculating that UFC brass held him back from joining the promotion due to concerns about his presence on the roster. However, after negotiations, Freire accepted several challenges and eventually landed a spot on the main card of UFC 314 in Miami on April 12.

Freire will face former interim belt holder Yair Rodriguez at UFC 314, with the vacant featherweight title up for grabs in the main event. Despite being new to the UFC, “Pitbull” is confident about his chances and believes he can challenge for the championship soon.

In an interview with Brazilian YouTube channels, Freire discussed potential future matchups, including a fight against the winner of Alexander Volkanovski and Diego Lopes. He also weighed in on Ilia Topuria’s decision to vacate his 145-pound belt, predicting that Topuria will become a dominant lightweight champion.
