Meta Approves Executive Bonus Plan Up to 200% of Base Pay

Meta has approved a new bonus plan that could give company executives a pay boost of up to 200% of their base salary, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing. The plan is designed to motivate executive officers to focus on company priorities and reward them for results and achievements.

The plan increases the bonus package from 75% to 200% of base pay, but does not apply to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, whose compensation can be structured differently through stock options. Meanwhile, some employees will see a reduction in their annual equity refreshers by about 10%, resulting in lower restricted stock units.

Meta’s decision comes after the company reduced its workforce by around 4,000 employees earlier this month as part of an effort to streamline operations and invest in artificial intelligence. The new bonus plan is seen as a way for the company to incentivize executives to drive results during “an intense year.”
