Christopher Walken Breaks Down Severance’s Season 2 Dinner Scene

Severance star Christopher Walken has opened up about the latest episode, titled “Attila,” which explores his character Burt’s personal life. In a dinner scene with husband Cecil Fields and colleague Irving, played by John Turturro, things get awkward when Cecil brings up the possibility of Burt and Irving having unprotected sex.

Walken explained that in the second season, the focus shifts from the trio’s interactions to their individual lives outside of work. “You see Burt’s house, you see where he lives, you see how he dresses,” Walken said. This marks a change from the first season, where the majority of scenes revolve around Burt, Irving, and Cecil’s relationships.

Walken praised his long-time friend Turturro for bringing ease to their on-screen chemistry. “I think that we know each other very well for a long time was very useful,” he said. The pair’s decades-long friendship made it effortless to build believable chemistry as love interests.

Despite the show’s dark themes, Walken found levity in his interactions with Turturro between takes. “John and I just had a lot of fun sitting there talking,” he said. The actor even joked about potentially writing a book about their conversations.

New episodes of Severance air every Friday on Apple TV+.
