Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed “revenge” against Hamas after it was discovered that the body in a coffin bearing Shiri Bibas’ name and photo was an unidentified woman, not the kidnapped mother of two. The revelation sparked widespread outrage among world leaders and celebrities.
Netanyahu said Hamas had cynically refused to bring back the bodies of Shiri Bibas’ sons, Ariel and Kfir, and instead sent the body of a Gazan woman, in brazen violation of the agreement. He vowed that he would not rest until the savages who executed his hostages are brought to justice.
IDF Spokesperson Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari confirmed that Ariel and Kfir were murdered by terrorists in cold blood, with Hamas’ handing over an anonymous body instead being “further evidence of Hamas’ barbaric cruelty”.
The Hostages and Missing Families forum issued a statement, condemning Hamas’ actions as “barbaric” and reiterating its demand for the release of remaining hostages. However, Shiri Bibas’ sister, Ofri Bibas Levy, struck a different chord, urging Netanyahu to prioritize her brother’s return over revenge.
The US Envoy for Hostages warned that if Hamas does not release all remaining hostages, it will “face total annihilation”. World leaders have condemned Hamas’ actions, with some calling for Israel to defend itself against genocidal terror.
