Chinese smartphone maker Oppo has unveiled its latest flagship device, the Find N5, a foldable phone that can transform into a larger tablet. The device boasts an ultra-thin design, measuring 8.93 millimeters thick when closed and 4.21 millimeters when opened.
Priced at around $1,870, the Find N5 is a direct competitor to Samsung’s Galaxy Fold 6, which was released last year. However, Oppo claims its device has a slimmer profile than the South Korean tech giant’s offering.
The phone features a triple-camera setup with an AI-powered image enhancement feature called AI Telescope Zoom, allowing users to zoom in up to 30x. It also comes with a personal AI assistant that can interpret and summarize documents, generate summaries of phone calls, and translate video calls.
Oppo has partnered with Google for its AI and cloud computing technology, ensuring the device meets international standards for data protection. The company claims it “strictly abides by local laws, regulations, and privacy security protection requirements.”
In addition to its AI-powered features, the Find N5 also allows users to connect their phone to a Mac computer via an app called O+ Connect, enabling file transfers and remote control of the Mac’s display.
Industry analysts see the device as a significant player in the market, with chief analyst Ben Wood stating that Oppo has “showed the art of the possible when engineering a product with flexible display technology.” However, some argue that the book-like form factor remains the most commercially viable option.
