Apple has removed its advanced encrypted security feature for cloud data in the UK, following a government order that requires the company to build a backdoor for accessing user data. The Advanced Data Protection option, which provided end-to-end encryption for various user data types, is no longer available to new users in the UK.
The move comes after Apple stated it would never install a backdoor in its products to facilitate government access to user data. Despite this, the UK government’s demands led the company to discontinue the feature, citing concerns over national security and data protection.
