Citigroup Ditches Diversity Goals Amid Trump’s Corporate Shifts

Citigroup has abandoned its goal of achieving diverse slates of candidates during job interviews, according to CEO Jane Fraser. The bank will no longer set “aspirational representation goals,” except as required by local law. This move comes as the US corporate sector grapples with a changing business climate under President Donald Trump.

Trump’s administration has sought to dismantle diversity and inclusion initiatives in both government and private sectors. Several major companies, including Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan Chase, have scaled back their commitment to diversity and inclusion efforts.

Wall Street has struggled with diversity issues for years, even before Trump took office. Some big corporations had already faced pressure from conservative groups to scale back their diversity policies.

Despite ditching its diversity goal, Citigroup aims to still include a variety of perspectives in hiring decisions.
