Warning: This article contains spoilers for Episode 6 of Severance Season 2.
Outie Irving (John Turturro) appears to be on a mission to infiltrate and possibly bring down Lumon, but a dinner party with outie Burt (Christopher Walken) and his husband Fields (John Noble) has raised more questions than answers. While the evening started off warmly, it became increasingly hostile as the conversation turned to their relationship with Lumon.
Fields’ past behavior suggests he may be involved with Lumon, particularly when discussing innie Burt’s potential connection to Christianity and its relationship to severance. The couple’s use of terms like “Attila” and references to fratricide raise suspicions about their true loyalties.
Meanwhile, Lumon security chief Mr. Drummond (Olafur Darri Ólafsson) has been keeping tabs on outie Irving, using a keyring with multiple keys to imply he may have access to every Lumon employee’s home. The episode ends with Irv and Burt parting ways, but their intentions remain unclear.
Burt’s involvement with Lumon appears to run deeper than initially thought, leaving viewers wondering who is playing chess and who is being played.
