14-Year-Old “Human Calculator” Shatters World Records

Meet Aaryan Shukla, the 14-year-old Indian teenager who has taken mental math to new heights. He recently broke four Guinness World Records for his incredible mental calculation skills, earning him the nickname “human calculator kid.”

In a single day, Shukla achieved six world records, including adding 100 four-digit numbers in 30.9 seconds and dividing a 20-digit number by a ten-digit number in just over two minutes. These feats are among the most difficult mental calculations ever attempted.

Shukla’s achievement is all the more impressive considering he broke another record at the age of 13, setting a new fastest time to mentally add 50 five-digit numbers in 25.19 seconds. He attributes his abilities to “daily practice” and says that mental math happens “in a flash of a second.”

Shukla’s parents claim that his skills are not due to family lineage but rather hard work and dedication. The teenager practices for around six hours daily, balancing school responsibilities with other hobbies like Sahaja Yoga meditation, reading, and playing cricket.

With four world championships under his belt, Aaryan Shukla is a standout in the mental calculation community. As a founding board member of the Global Mental Calculators Association (GMCA), he is helping to promote the sport and inspire others to develop their own mental math skills.
