Citigroup has announced it is revoking its diversity goals as part of a broader shift in its approach to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). The move comes amid growing political pressure to dismantle such programs. CEO Jane Fraser outlined the change in a memo to staff.
The company will be rebranding its DEI team to “talent management and engagement.” It will also eliminate some of its DEI initiatives, including aspirational representation goals that were not mandated by local law.
This move follows similar actions taken by other major companies, such as Amazon, Meta, Target, Walmart, and Goldman Sachs.
