Google Pixel Call Assist and Recents Filters Now Available

Google has rolled out updates for the Pixel series phones, including a redesigned call UI and new filters in the Recents view.

Call Notes: Live Transcripts and Summaries Now Accessible

Call Assist is now more accessible, with large pills above the keypad buttons. Tapping on these pills reveals a card with live transcripts and summaries of calls.

The feature, which was tested in beta, allows users to access their call notes and audio emojis with just one tap. This new design is available only on Pixel 9 series phones.

New Recents Filters Declutter Call Logs

Google has also introduced new filters in the Recents view, making it easier to quickly find missed calls, calls from contacts, and filter out spam calls. The updated UI includes chips for “All,” “Missed,” “Contacts,” “Non-spam,” and “Spam.”

These filters can be accessed by tapping on the search bar above the call log. This feature is now available on Pixel 9 series phones as well as non-Pixel devices with Phone by Google installed in beta version 162.

Additional Features and Updates

Google’s blog post also discusses other features, including reverse phone number lookup, Direct My Call, Hold for Me, and Call Screen suggested replies.

A new feature called Live Caption allows users to “read” incoming calls and respond with typed messages. The app reads user input aloud to the caller, making it easier to communicate with hearing-impaired individuals.

To enable Live Caption in calls, go to Settings > Accessibility > Live Caption > Live Caption in calls.
