Nvidia Confirms ‘Rare’ Manufacturing Issue with RTX 5090 and 5070 Ti GPUs

Nvidia has confirmed that it shipped some graphics cards with fewer render units than specified. The issue, affecting less than 0.5% of GeForce RTX 5090 and 5090D as well as 5070 Ti models, impacts performance by an average of 4%. Affected consumers can contact the board manufacturer for a replacement.

The problem is a manufacturing anomaly that was corrected after reports emerged of missing render units in graphics cards from multiple partners, including Zotac, MSI, Gigabyte, Manli, and Nvidia’s own Founders Edition model. To check if your GPU is affected, use GPU-Z to verify the number of ROPs.
