False Alarm Triggers Lockdown at Santa Monica High School

A lockdown was triggered at Santa Monica High School after a report of an active shooter, but it was later confirmed as a false alarm. The incident began when SMPD received a call about suspicious activity on the campus. Students were sheltered in place and police officers conducted a thorough search to ensure everyone’s safety.

SMPD officers stated that they responded quickly and investigated the situation thoroughly. After determining it was a false alarm, an all-clear was given, and the lockdown was lifted. The school district praised SMPD for their response, saying students were “very orderly” and cooperative during the incident.

The false alarm comes after a fatal shooting at Santa Monica College in January, where a custodial operations manager was killed on campus.
