Twin Cities Couple Sues Delta Over Toronto Crash Landing

Two passengers on a recent flight from the Twin Cities to Toronto have filed lawsuits against Delta Air Lines, citing gross negligence and physical injuries sustained during the crash landing. Hannah Krebs, a woman from the Twin Cities, and Marthinus Lourens of Texas, both survived the ordeal but suffered significant physical and emotional trauma.

Krebs claims that she was violently thrown around the cabin during the crash, leading to sprains, head injuries, headaches, anxiety, and nausea due to jet fuel exposure. She is seeking compensation under the Montreal Convention, an international treaty that sets liability standards for commercial airlines.

Lourens, who suffered significant injuries to his head, neck, back, knees, and face, claims he was drenched in jet fuel while the plane was on fire. He also reports being hurt after releasing his seatbelt as he hung from the ceiling and hit the floor.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is leading the investigation into the crash, which has not yet determined a cause. The investigation is ongoing, with a preliminary report expected within 30 days. Delta Air Lines has declined to comment on the pending lawsuits.
