The Cleveland Cavaliers dominated the New York Knicks in a 142-105 win, running out to a 42-point lead in the fourth quarter. The Wine and Gold’s second unit shone bright, led by Donovan Mitchell’s 27 points on 10-of-15 shooting, including 5-of-7 from long-range.
The Cavaliers’ bench outscored the Knicks 70-28, with Ty Jerome leading all reserves with 19 points. De’Andre Hunter added 16 points, going 6-for-7 from the floor and 4-for-4 from three-point range. Evan Mobley was outstanding, finishing with 21 points and eight rebounds on 9-for-11 shooting.
Coach Kenny Atkinson attributed his team’s win to their focus on overcoming past playoff losses. “We remember those losses, and it’s a credit to the Knicks that they’re such a good team,” he said. “Our guys have a chip on their shoulder and want to prove we’re better.”
The Cavaliers’ victory marked their sixth straight win and 14th win of at least 20 points this season. They also topped the 130-point plateau for the 16th time. The Wine and Gold welcome tough opponents in Ja Morant and the Grizzlies, as well as the Magic, before facing the Blazers in March.
