A Minnesota man recounts his traumatic experience when a Delta Air Lines jet crash-landed during its final descent, leaving him shaken but alive. John DeVos, a frequent flyer, was on board the flight from Minneapolis to Toronto when the plane flipped over, causing passengers to hang upside down.
Despite the chaos and destruction, what struck DeVos as remarkable was the outpouring of support among his fellow passengers. As he realized they were still alive, those around him helped each other get off the plane quickly due to the smell of jet fuel.
DeVos drove to Detroit with a co-worker and took another flight the next day to return home to Minnesota, where he was reunited with his wife. Although the experience left him shaken, DeVos says it won’t deter him from flying in the future. “It was a really bad situation but good prevailed,” he said.
