Former US Vice President Kamala Harris delivered a somber speech at the NAACP Image Awards, where she was honored with the Chairman’s Award for her public service and advocacy. In her remarks, Harris emphasized the importance of remaining strong and steadfast in the face of adversity, citing the need for “eternal vigilance” to protect liberty.
Harris also referenced the civil rights movement and the struggles of the Black community, highlighting the role of ordinary citizens in shaping America’s future. She urged Americans to remain vigilant, organize, mobilize, educate, and advocate for change.
The comments came just days after President Donald Trump made light of Harris’ name during his speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference. Trump mocked Biden as well, calling him a “sleepy, crooked guy” and claiming he was the worst president in US history.
Despite the jab from Trump, Harris’ message was one of hope and resilience, with her acceptance of the Chairman’s Award symbolizing her commitment to public service and meaningful change.
