Anora, the director behind Palme d’Or winner The Human Condition, experienced a surprising setback at the 2025 SAG Awards. Despite being nominated for several categories, including best film and ensemble cast, Anora’s team failed to take home any awards.
The ceremony saw wins for Conclave as the top prize went to its ensemble cast. However, it was not a night of triumph for Anora’s co-stars either. Star Mikey Madison did receive some recognition, giving a heartfelt speech during the “I’m an actor” segment and presenting clips from The Human Condition with her co-stars Mark Eydelshteyn and Yura Borisov.
The TV side of the awards ceremony also saw surprises. Martin Short won comedy ensemble for Only Murders in the Building, beating favorites Hacks and The Bear. Additionally, Short emerged victorious as best actor in a comedy series.
However, despite its nominations, Wicked failed to win any award, leaving fans surprised. A Complete Unknown scored four SAG Awards nominations but only took home one win. The Last Showgirl also fell short of expectations.
In the end, The Bear and Shrinking went home empty-handed from Sunday night’s ceremony, with Jeremy Allen White quipping that his series “wins all of our awards” in comedy categories.
