Israel Postpones Hostage Prisoner Exchange Amid Hamas Protest

Israel has postponed the release of 620 Palestinian prisoners, scheduled for Saturday, after condemning Hamas’ treatment of hostages as “humiliating”. The decision comes amid reports of Hamas fighters exploiting Israeli prisoners during their release. Five freed hostages were seen posing with terrorists and wearing fake army uniforms in a ceremony that sparked outrage. Hamas claims Israel is attempting to disrupt the ceasefire agreement.

Hamas says Israel’s claim that hostage handover ceremonies are humiliating is false, calling it a pretext for evading obligations under the deal. Israeli Ambassador Danny Danon has described the gesture as “evil and depraved”. The United Nations has also condemned the incident, stating that any handover of remains must comply with international law to respect the dignity of the deceased and their families.

The release of Palestinian prisoners was part of a cease-fire agreement reached between Israel and Hamas. However, tensions have risen after reports of Hamas exploiting Israeli prisoners while they were being released.
