Demetrious Johnson Calls for Henry Cejudo’s Retirement After Loss

Former UFC champion Demetrious Johnson thinks former two-division champ Henry Cejudo should hang up his gloves after losing to Song Yadong at UFC Fight Night. Johnson, a longtime friend and opponent of Cejudo, feels the Olympic gold medalist has nothing left to prove.

Cejudo’s recent loss came on the heels of an accidental eye poke in the third round, which forced him to withdraw from the fight. According to Johnson, there’s no reason for Cejudo to continue fighting and risking his health.

“Let me see if I’m crazy, but he’s got a great podcast, two beautiful kids, a beautiful wife, businesses – what does he need to fight for?” Johnson asked on his YouTube channel. “He’s beaten me, was flyweight champion, defended the flyweight belt, bantamweight champion, and defended the bantamweight belt. That’s more than half the guys on the roster are ever going to do.”

Johnson believes Cejudo has accomplished everything he can in the sport and that fighting is taking a toll on his health. Despite the financial benefits of continued competition, Johnson thinks it’s time for Cejudo to call it quits.
