North Carolina’s Hubert Davis’ team pulled off a crucial road win against Florida State, defeating the Seminoles 96-85 to extend their winning streak to four games. The Tar Heels dominated the second half, outscoring Florida State by 14 points to seal the victory.
UNC came out strong in the first half, trailing only for a few minutes before closing out on a 10-4 run to grab a 49-43 lead at halftime. They continued their momentum in the second half, extending their advantage with a 12-4 run that put them up by 14 points.
Despite being undersized against the tall Florida State team, UNC out-rebounded its opponents 35-22 and controlled the boards to limit opportunities for the Seminoles. Ven-Allen Lubin led the way with seven rebounds, while Jae’Lyn Withers added five. The Tar Heels’ offense also looked strong, with 18 assists on the game.
RJ Davis paced North Carolina with 20 points, followed by Seth Trimble with 17 and Withers with 11. Other players in double figures included Lubin, Elliot Cadeau, and Jalen Washington. This win was a much-needed boost for the Tar Heels as they aim to play themselves off the bubble, with three remaining games in the season.
