Nationwide Boycott to Hit Major Retailers on Feb. 28

A nationwide protest is underway, urging Americans to boycott all major retailers for 24 hours starting Friday, February 28. The initiative, called the “Feb. 28 economic blackout,” aims to combat rising prices and corporate greed.

The People’s Union USA, a grassroots organization founded by John Schwarz, is behind the movement. The group’s goal is to unite Americans against corruption and greed in corporations, which it claims has led to decades of struggle for many individuals.

During the boycott, participants are encouraged not to spend money on non-essential items and instead opt for local small businesses or online alternatives. However, essential purchases like food, medicine, and emergency supplies can be made from big-box retailers if necessary.

The Feb. 28 blackout targets all major retailers, including Amazon, Walmart, and fast food chains, with the aim of disrupting the economy for a single day. The movement is similar to previous social media-fueled economic efforts, such as the “No Buy 2025” challenge against overconsumption.

Following the initial Feb. 28 boycott, the People’s Union plans weeklong blackouts aimed at specific retailers, starting with Amazon on March 7.
