Stalker 2 Launch Trounced by Bugs and Technical Issues

Stalker 2’s massive launch drew a mixed response from players, largely due to the game’s numerous bugs and technical issues. Developer GSC Game World has warned that players should expect “rough edges” in the game, citing its massive scale as the reason for these issues.

The game’s Steam reviews are currently hovering around a 76% ‘mostly positive’ rating, with most negative reviews complaining about performance and technical problems. The developer acknowledges that the game is not perfect, but is committed to fixing any issues that arise and releasing free in-game content.

In a statement on Twitter, GSC Game World said, “We understand that in such a game, there may still be rough edges: we literally haven’t released anything of this scale before. We’re absolutely committed to being here, monitoring your feedback, and quickly fixing any issues that need our attention.”

The developer plans to release hotfixes regularly, followed by larger updates with constant improvements. There will also be free in-game content added later in December.

Stalker 2’s launch is a nod to the original game, which launched in 2007 to both praise for its depth and criticism for its technical issues. The new game has too much baggage to overlook, with many players experiencing jank and instability similar to the original.

GSC Game World aims to continue developing the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. universe, with big plans for the future. The developer is grateful for player feedback and promises to have fun in the game.
