Renowned chocolatier brand Ghirardelli Chocolate & Ice Cream Shop officially opened its new location in Santa Monica this week, bringing with it a modern twist on the classic dessert. The shop at 1541 Ocean Ave. offers a variety of square candies and sundaes made from Ghirardelli’s famous chocolate.
To celebrate its grand opening, Ghirardelli offered a free sample of its World Famous Hot Fudge Sundae to the first 100 guests, drawing a crowd that stretched around the block near the iconic Santa Monica Pier. The brand has been a staple in California for over 160 years, with 13 locations across the state.
“We’re excited to bring our brand to Santa Monica and offer a unique experience for locals,” said Lacey Zane, Ghirardelli’s Vice President of Restaurant and Retail. “The warm weather and beach atmosphere are perfect for enjoying a hot fudge sundae.”
Ghirardelli’s square candies come in various flavors such as Intense Dark and White Chocolate Caramel, while the sundaes offer options like Caramel Almond and Mint Bliss. A limited-edition Peppermint Bark sundae is also available.
The shop’s design is inspired by Ghirardelli’s San Francisco location, with a modern Santa Monica twist. The storefront features white light and bright colors, creating a comfortable space for customers to relax and enjoy their treats.
In addition to Ghirardelli, live shopping experience outlet Outlandish opened its flagship store at 1228 Third Street Promenade. Outlandish offers guided walkthroughs of media and guests before opening its doors and hosts businesses and online content creators in livestreaming booths where they sell products to a global audience.
