Woman Admits Trying to Defraud Elvis Presley’s Family Over Graceland Auction

A woman from Missouri has admitted attempting to defraud Elvis Presley’s family by auctioning off his iconic mansion and property, Graceland. Lisa Jeanine Findley falsely claimed that Lisa Marie Presley, Elvis’ daughter, had borrowed $3.8 million from a bogus private lender and had pledged Graceland as collateral for the loan.

Findley then threatened to sell Graceland to the highest bidder if Presley’s family did not pay a $2.85 million settlement. She posed as three different people allegedly involved with the fake lender, fabricated loan documents, and published a foreclosure notice in a Memphis newspaper announcing the auction of Graceland in May 2024.

However, her scheme was uncovered after Lisa Marie Presley’s daughter, actress Riley Keough, sued to stop the sale. A judge halted the proposed auction, citing that Findley’s actions were fraudulent. The case highlights how experts and authorities became suspicious of the fake documents and emails used by Findley.

Findley has pleaded guilty to two counts of mail fraud and aggravated identity theft, which carry a maximum sentence of up to 20 years. However, she is expected to receive a reduced sentence under her plea deal.
