ATHENS, Ga. – Georgia guard Blue Cain sank a go-ahead 3-pointer with 47 seconds remaining as the Bulldogs stunned No. 3 Florida 88-83 on Tuesday night. The win boosts Georgia’s hopes for its first NCAA tournament berth since 2015 and marks its first victory against a top-ranked team in over 18 years.
After trailing by 26 points in the first half, Florida made an impressive comeback with a 13-0 run to take the lead. However, Cain’s 3-pointer ended the rally. Georgia also snapped a four-game losing streak and secured coach Mike White’s first win against his former team.
Will Richard scored a career-high 30 points for Florida, but it was not enough to overcome the deficit. The Gators were trying to pull off their second comeback in four days, but ultimately fell short.
The Bulldogs’ victory is significant, as they ended Florida’s 12-game winning streak in the series and gave White his first win against his former team. Georgia fans celebrated wildly, flooding the court after the game.
