Israel to Vote on Lebanon Ceasefire Deal Today

Israel is set to vote on a US-backed ceasefire deal with Lebanon today, one that could potentially pave the way for a lasting truce. The proposal aims to bring an end to hostilities between Israeli forces and Hezbollah militants after nearly six weeks of clashes in southern Lebanon.

The conflict escalated in September, resulting in significant loss of life. According to CNN, over 3,000 people have been killed in Lebanon since then, while more than a million Lebanese citizens have been displaced.

Meanwhile, the Gaza Strip remains embroiled in an ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, with tensions high between the two sides. In a recent development, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and others accused of war crimes in the Palestinian enclave.
