Shaedon Sharpe Leads Trail Blazers to Win Over Wizards

Shaedon Sharpe’s 36-point performance, including a memorable one-handed slam, helped the Portland Trail Blazers beat the Washington Wizards 129-121 on Wednesday night. The victory maintained the Trail Blazers’ lead in the Western Conference’s final play-in spot.

Sharpe shot 13 of 26 from the floor and converted all four of his free throws in the final minute to secure the win. Anfernee Simons and Scoot Henderson added 16 points each for Portland. Jordan Poole scored 24 points for Washington, but Richaun Holmes finished with a career-high 20 points.

Deni Avdija left the game after six minutes due to an injury, while Holmes had one of his best performances, going 7-7 from the floor and 6-6 from the foul line. The Trail Blazers led by as much as 22 points before Washington made a late surge.

The win marked another crucial step for the Trail Blazers, who began the night just 4 1/2 games behind Sacramento in the Western Conference’s final play-in spot.
