Maha Shivratri Rush Ends Maha Kumbh 2025

The sixth and final day of the six-week-long Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 began on February 26, marking the conclusion of India’s largest spiritual gathering. Devotees flocked to Triveni Sangam, a confluence of rivers Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati, for the last ‘snan’ or holy dip of the Maha Kumbh.

The occasion commemorates the divine union of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, an essential part of Hindu mythology. According to legend, Lord Shiva’s role in the Samudra Manthan led to the emergence of Amrit Kumbh, the key essence of the Kumbh Mela.

Maha Kumbh Mela has witnessed six special ‘snan’ days, including three ‘Amrit Snan’ days. Devotees from across India and around the world participated in these sacred baths. The Uttar Pradesh government took extensive security measures, deploying 51,000 personnel, including police, home guards, and AI-based CCTV cameras.

To facilitate devotees’ return after the final ‘Amrit snan’, Indian Railways has made special arrangements, running over 350 additional trains from Prayagraj. The North Central Railway, North Eastern Railway, and Northern Railways have been put on high alert due to recent stampede incidents.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath extended greetings to the people of Uttar Pradesh and others worldwide for the ‘Amrit snan’ at Maha Kumbh 2025. He highlighted the significance of Maha Shivratri, inspiring devotees to remain committed to society’s welfare.

The sixth day marked a significant event in India’s spiritual calendar, with devotees coming together to celebrate the divine union of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
